TMU and actuary.aero Launch Deferred Delivery Risk Model

TMU and actuary.aero Launch Deferred Delivery Risk Model February 19, 2026

TMU Management and actuary.aero have announced a strategic collaboration designed to transform how acquiring banks manage counterparty credit risk across deferred delivery merchant portfolios using real-time exposure intelligence.

Historically, risk frameworks in deferred delivery sectors have relied on approximations rather than observed exposure. Controls have often been static, reserves broadly applied, and visibility limited at portfolio level. This has led to conservative capital treatment, restricted merchant growth, and friction between risk and commercial teams.

The collaboration introduces a new operating model by combining portfolio-level Acquirer Chargeback Insurance with real-time, transaction-level exposure intelligence. Acquiring banks can manage deferred delivery risk proactively, rather than retrospectively, while retaining merchant-level flexibility within insured portfolios.

Depending on risk strategy, static reserves can be replaced or supported alongside existing controls. Decisions are based on live exposure data instead of historical averages or sector-wide assumptions.

Insurer Alignment Through Data Transparency

Continuous sharing of granular exposure data ensures insurers assess risk dynamically rather than only at claim stage. Portfolio behaviour and exposure build-up are understood in advance, enabling clearer underwriting, faster claims handling, and reduced dispute risk.

The model is immediately applicable within the travel sector, where deferred delivery exposure is most complex, and extends to ticketing, events, and prepaid leisure verticals.

Executive Commentary

Sami Doyle of TMU Management said: “This partnership represents a structural shift in deferred delivery risk management. Portfolio-level insurance, supported by live exposure intelligence, enables acquirers to transfer and govern risk with far greater precision.”

Livia Vité, CEO of actuary.aero, added: “Deferred delivery risk has always been manageable. The challenge has been visibility. By transforming transaction data into a shared exposure view and combining it with TMU’s portfolio protection, risk can be addressed earlier and more precisely.”

For acquiring banks, the collaboration offers portfolio protection without defaulting to restrictive controls. For insurers, it enables underwriting grounded in continuous intelligence. For the wider payments ecosystem, it signals a shift toward real-time, intelligence-led management of deferred delivery exposure.
